From November 4, Afrika Eye will be hosting filmmakers, film lovers, and creatives from around the world to nine days of film exhibitions, workshops, and cross-cultural entertainment featuring filmmakers with African roots.

This year, with the support of the British Council, Afrika Eye has teamed up with Dakar’s renowned film festival ‘Image et Vie’ to set up an exchange project with two young artists from Bristol and Dakar.

Delving into each city and creating new work based on their discoveries, their responses in film and music will be shared at each film festival.

Bristol filmmaker Pierre Niyongira and rapper/songwriter Joel Douglas (aka Splitz P) will travel to Senegal on 27th September 2018 for a two week visit exploring the heady cultural landscape that is Dakar, meeting other artists and film makers, soaking up the atmosphere and recording their findings.

The return visit will begin on 28th October when Senegalese filmmaker Kady Diedhiou and festival event manager Fatou Diabel Mbaye will fly into the UK to embark on a similar journey of cultural discovery in Bristol.
