BootCamp Rules
Anyone applying for this bootcamp should be aware of the following:
- The BootCamp
The BootCamp is a platform put together by the British Council to support the development of young entrepreneurs in Nigeria by building their knowledge capital, providing support, access to information and networks which will lead to opportunities for growth, scale and positioning for future investment. (the "BootCamp").
2. Territory and eligibility
The BootCamp is open to entrepreneurs:
- of Nigerian descent, resident in Nigeria
- within the age range 21 - 40, as at the time of submission of application
- available to participate and commit fully to the respective bootcamp you select as stated in the descriptions above
- representative of a business based on the programme level as described for each one below.
- able to cover any personal/travel/accommodation costs if applying /coming from outside of the respective programmes location.
- *only one person per enterprise will be accepted to participate each of the bootcamps and no business can participate in more than one)*
3. BootCamp Dates
The application platform for the bootcamps will open on 29 January 2018 and the close on 09 February 2018.
Any entry received before the opening date or after the closing date will not be shortlisted. The British Council accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any technical failure or malfunction or any other problem with any system, server, provider or otherwise that may result in any entry being lost, delayed or not properly registered.
Only successful BootCamp participants will be notified. This notification will be made to the email address provided by the participants when registering for the BootCamp in accordance with section 4 of these BootCamp Rules.
In this notification, the British Council will inform successful participants of how to participate in the BootCamp activities/event. The British Council reserves the right to offer the spot to another entrepreneur if the shortlisted entrepreneur(s) do not confirm participation after 3 days of such notification.
4. How to enter
The BootCamp will be promoted through email and corporate social media platforms online.

To enter interested applicants must complete the online application form. Access details for the application will be on the Enterprise page on the British Council website https://www.britishcouncil.org.ng
5. Selection of Participants
The entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges and the successful applicants will be invited to participate in the BootCamp.
No correspondence will be entered into with the unsuccessful applicants.
The British Council accepts no responsibility for failure to notify successful applicants or where such failure results from the provision of inaccurate contact details by the applicants or from the acts or omissions of any third party (including, without limitation, any internet or telecommunications provider) and shall have no liability to any entrant if it is prevented from or delayed in delivering any aspect of the BootCamp by acts, events, omissions or accidents beyond its reasonable control.
The British Council does not offer any insurance in connection with the BootCamp.
6. Personal data
The British Council will collect and store the names and email addresses of all participants and the additional contact details of all participants, as anticipated by sections 4 and 5 above.
The British Council will use this personal data for the following purposes:
- managing the relationship between the participants and the British Council
- communicating with participants to answer their queries about the BootCamp
- communicating with participants on other Enterprise activities
- marketing and publicity in accordance with section 7 below.
Personal data will be made available to staff at the British Council for the above purposes. It may also be made available for the same reasons to co-sponsors of this programme (i.e. the corporate sponsors), and to members of any panel that may interview you.
If you are unsuccessful the information will be held securely and destroyed in due course.
The British Council may contact the participant using the personal data collected to provide information about the goods, services, courses or promotions that the British Council offers.
By participating in the BootCamp, participants consent to their personal data being processed by the British Council in accordance with, and for the purposes set out in, this section 6.
Participants can exercise their rights to access their personal data held by the British Council and withdraw their consent to the processing of their personal data by sending an email, accompanied by a scanned photocopy of their valid passport or driver's license to NG.Enterprise@ng.britishcouncil.org
7. Publicity and rights
The British Council intends to publish the names and photographs of participants on the British Council's websites, social media platforms, press releases and in other promotional and marketing material. In addition, the British Council may write and publish articles about the participant's feedback from the BootCamp. By entering the BootCamp, each participant agrees to the use of their name and image and agrees to co-operate with any such publicity or marketing if they participate in the BootCamp.
Participants will retain copyright in the entry material/information that they submit to the British Council.
Each participant confirms that the entry material is their original work, is not defamatory and does not infringe any English laws, that they have the right to give the British Council permission to use it for the purposes specified above, and that all necessary consents for the submission of the entry material have been obtained.
All rights in the British Council's name and logo, websites, social media platforms, press releases and other promotional and marketing material and all course and examination content and materials (together the "Council's Materials") shall vest in and remain with the British Council (or its licensors). By participating in the BootCamp, participants agree that they will not use, broadcast, publish, export, exploit, reproduce nor copy part or all of the Council's Materials.
8. General
The British Council may disqualify or refuse to accept the entry of any participant, which does not meet the eligibility criteria in section 2 or does not otherwise comply with these BootCamp rules.
9. Acceptance of BootCamp Rules
By participating in the BootCamp, participants are deemed to have accepted these BootCamp rules.
Your Information
The British Council will use the information which you have provided to manage the application process. By giving us sensitive information about yourself you consent to us using that information where necessary for this purpose. The British Council will treat all personal data in accordance with UK law and its own privacy policy. Under UK Data Protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold on you, and the right to ask us to correct any inaccuracies in that information. By submitting this application, you accept that you have read, understand and will be bound by all the terms and conditions for participating in all stages of the BootCamp.
